Wrong bike
Locked the wrong bike? Or a strange lock on yours
It happens on a full rack. You close your lock and it is around the wrong bike. Or you come back and a lock is on your frame that is not yours. Or someone locked their bike together with yours. Three different problems.
Your bike, a strange lock. That is the job we do most. Someone locked your bike, by accident or not. You are there, the bike is yours, the lock is not. Bring a receipt, a registration or a photo of your ID, plus something that shows this is your bike. Then we cut that lock off. Not your frame.
After that it is loose. In Amsterdam that is not the moment to fetch a coffee. Put your own lock on before we drive off, or ride away. A new lock can come on the same visit. Buying a lock is agreed beforehand.
You locked the wrong bike. Then the lock is yours, and the bike is not. We do not cut your lock and then leave that bike unattended. The owner is not there. The bike is unlocked afterwards, and if it disappears, that is a different story from a lock you lost.
What works instead. Stay with the bike, or leave a note with your number. When the owner arrives, we cut your lock off while they are there. They put their own lock on. If you call us without the owner, we will not cut it and drive away.
Someone locked their bike together with yours. One chain or U-lock through both frames, or their bike against yours. Your bike is yours. The other one is not. Cut that lock, and their bike is loose too, and they are not there.
We do not cut that and then drive off either. You can show your bike is yours, but the other one would be left unattended. We cut only when the owner of that bike is there, or when you stay with their bike until they come. We do not leave their bike open on the street.
We open your lock when you have locked the other bike with it and left a note, so you can open theirs later. Your bike can go. The lock on theirs stays shut until you come back and they are there. We do not cut your lock and then leave that bike unattended.
Do not saw at a strange lock with a bread knife. You damage a frame that is not yours, or you half-cut your own lock, and the bike stays stuck. Showing it is yours belongs with every job, including this one.
The rate is the same as any other lock. €75 within 15 km of postcode 1063, then €1 per kilometre. Calculate your price or send a photo of the lock and of the bike. We are now open, including in the evening.
