A fatbike is not a city bike with fat tyres as a joke. It is a heavy e-bike, often without a tidy Dutch hub, with a battery that is worth money on Marktplaats. So we are stricter than with a Gazelle.
What we refuse
What we refuse: cracked frames, brakes that die after one wet canal, batteries with no serial, toy-steel locks. The market is full of them. After one winter they sit with us to be opened — or they are already gone.
Oux, Fiido, Himiway — if the welds hold
What we do take: Oux, Fiido, Himiway or clean refurbished if brakes, tyres, controller and welds check out. We say so if you are better off with a normal e-bike. That is not upsell, that is the city.
Unlocked it is gone in ten minutes
A lock on a fatbike is not an extra. Chain or U-lock through the frame, ART if we can, a battery lock that stays. An unlocked fatbike on an Amsterdam rack is gone in ten minutes.
To 25 km/h, no tuning
Legally: assist to 25 km/h without a plate. Faster is another story (speed pedelec). We do not tune and we do not sell souped-up junk.
Doubt is a valid answer
