Bike lock frozen or rusted shut: what works (WD-40 often doesn’t)

First frost, ring lock shut. Warm water on the cylinder, not boiling water on carbon or a hub. WD-40 is not a spell.

If it stays shut: stop. Forcing snaps keys in the lock. Message us, we open or cut.

Afterwards a lock that can take winter, not the same rusty cylinder.

Night rate 00:00–08:00 + €50. Winter or not.

Lukewarm water on the cylinder, dry it, try your own key again. Boiling water on a hub or carbon is an expensive mistake.

If it stays shut, stop. A snapped key in a frozen cylinder is harder than the ice.

Then a lock that can take winter. Buy a lock. The night rate does not change because it is freezing.
